The Ladies of Charity, alongside the Watervliet Fire and Police Departments, collaborated to bring the Regional Food Bank’s “Senior’s Delivery Program” straight to the doorsteps of the residents at Quinn and Hanratta Senior Housing. The Ladies bagged up the bountiful food donations – which included wholesome essentials like eggs, hamburger, cheese, macaroni and cheese, waffles, milk, rice and beans – ensuring everything was ready for prompt delivery to the grateful senior community.
An entire platoon from the Fire Department and one police officer distributed the bags to the residents. Their invaluable help was crucial in making this a success. With their continued support, we hope to make this a monthly event for those seniors struggling with food insecurity.
The residents provided enthusiastic feedback, with a special thank you to Mary Clinton and her boss, Matt. This was a fun and easy way to serve our community and we hope more Ladies will join us next month.
