The fair was presented by the Watervliet Housing Authority, Mary’s Corner, and the WSD Family Opportunity Center.

Overall, the fair was a success. Mary’s Corner distributed travel first aid kits, the Watervliet Housing Authority raffled two $50 Target gift cards, and the WSD Family Opportunity Center raffled a personal care basket, in addition to sponsoring summer programs.

Our Siena Bonner students, Roni and Charlette, were instrumental in coordinating the event. Roni took the lead on promotional materials and the press release, while Charlette focused primarily on agency follow-ups.

It is our hope to follow up in the fall with an educational and job fair for parents. In addition, we are aiming for Cohoes to host a Parent Fair sometime this summer, with Albany potentially hosting one in early fall.

Several local agencies showed interest including:

  • ACAP – educational and training programs

  • Amazing Athletes – summer sports camp sign-ups sponsored by the WSD Family Opportunity Center

  • Watervliet Police Department – child ID services

  • Catholic Charities – community navigation services to help individuals find programs that meet their needs

  • Albany County Car Seat Program – car seat inspections and replacements when necessary

Below are photos showcasing a successful day.
