As temperatures begin to drop and winter approaches, the need for warm clothing becomes especially urgent for many families in our surrounding communities. This year’s “Coats for the Community” coat drive, exceeded all expectations thanks to the extraordinary generosity of donors and the unwavering dedication of volunteers. What began as a simple call for gently used outerwear quickly grew into a remarkable outpouring of support.
From children’s jackets to heavy winter coats, scarves, hats, and gloves, the abundance of donated items ensured that families across a wide range of neighborhoods will face the winter season with warmth and comfort. Tables overflowed, racks were filled to capacity, and every available space became a testament to the compassion of our community.
Behind the scenes and under the leadership of Kathy Ryan and Shelby Blendell, volunteers invested countless hours sorting, organizing, and preparing each coat for distribution. Their commitment transformed a mountain of donations into a smooth and welcoming process for the families who came to choose what they needed. Whether they were greeting visitors, matching sizes, or keeping everything running efficiently, these volunteers embodied the spirit of service.
Thanks to both the generous donors and the dedicated volunteers, families throughout our area will face the winter season wrapped in coats that represent the warmth of a caring community.
